What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a depression of any shape or size with defined edges seen on the surface of the skin, typically on the buttocks or thighs. A major underlying cause of cellulite are the fibrous bands that tether your skin to the structures below. These bands are called septa.2 Some septa are good (and you want them as connective tethers), but others stiffen or shrink over time and lead to the dimples we see on the surface and call cellulite.2

It’s important to distinguish cellulite from other concerns like laxity or localized fat, which we can talk you through during a consultation in our office. You should also know that cellulite is not your fault (genetics and hormones play a role), and you are not alone – up to 90% of women have it! 3

What is Aveli cellulite reduction treatment?

Cellulite commonly arises on the legs, abdomen, or butt, causing a bumpy, "orange peel" look on the skin. Since cellulite is caused by the accumulation of fat under the surface of the skin, this problem can be hard to remove on your own. At Andre P. Marshall Plastic Surgery, Dr. Andre Marshall carries out minimally invasive cellulite reduction sessions with cutting-edge Aveli technology for a noticeable reduction in the appearance of cellulite. This treatment is effective in targeting and breaking up bands of fat tissue, creating a tighter appearance for your skin. Call our location in Beverly Hills, CA to schedule a consultation and hear more about the visible results you might attain.

How Does Avéli™ cellulite REduction Work?

Avéli has proven to be a safe and effective option for women with all severities of cellulite. Our experienced staff will perform the treatment using a handheld wand to manually target and release septa bands causing the appearance of cellulite dimples2

In total, the procedure can be performed in 3 steps:

  • Dr. Marshall will guide the Avéli™ handpiece under the skin seeking the targeted cellulite dimples. 2
  • After we identify the septa bands causing the dimples, those septa are released. 2
  • We can confirm the release of these septa bands in real-time, delivering smoother skin almost immediately. 2,4

Aveli™ Cellulite Reduction FAQ

Q: Is Avéli™ cellulite reduction right for me?
A: If you are a woman seeking long-term reduction in cellulite dimples from a single, minimally invasive procedure, Avéli™ could be for you! Schedule a consultation with our staff to find out if you are a candidate for this treatment.

Q: Can Avéli™ only treat cellulite dimples?

A: Avéli™ targets and releases the septa bands causing cellulite dimples.2 It is not a procedure that addresses other concerns often seen alongside cellulite, such as laxity (loose skin) or localized pockets of fat.

Q: Are multiple sessions of Avéli™ cellulite reduction required?

A: Not at all. In fact, the opposite is true. We will only need a single session in order to target and release the relevant septa bands and achieve the results you desire.4

Q: How long does the procedure last?

A: A typical Avéli™ session can take about 60 minutes, including administering local anesthesia as well as performing the procedure itself. The precise timing of the treatment will differ based on the custom plan designed by Dr. Marshall.

Q: Will there be any downtime or recovery after the procedure?

A: There is virtually no downtime after this treatment. In the clinical study, most patients returned to normal activities within about one to two days.4

Q: How quickly will I see results?

A: Avéli™ cellulite reduction results are usually noticeable once the swelling and bruising from the treatment subsides. About one month after the procedure, you should start to see the results of the procedure.4

Q: Can I work out or exercise after the procedure?

A: It is not recommended to perform strenuous activities or workouts in the first few days or even weeks following your procedure.5 This simply allows the body to heal without putting any additional stress on it. In terms of other restrictions, will provide you with instructions for aftercare and post-procedure expectations.

Q: How long will the results last?

A: Participants in the clinical study demonstrated a lasting reduction in the appearance of their cellulite when assessed one year after the procedure.1

Avéli™ is indicated for long-term reduction in the appearance of cellulite in the buttocks and thigh areas of adult females as supported by clinical data demonstrating treatment benefits through one year of observation. The most common side effects reported were mild pain within the first 24 hours and bruising and tenderness to the touch which typically resolved within 30 days. Some patients returned to normal activities within one day of the procedure and most within a week. As with any medical procedure, there are risks associated with the procedure. Consult with your physician for full safety information.
